Salary: £65,000–£75,000

The Role
The Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer will lead and support the design,
maintenance and compliance of electrical, instrumentation and control systems across
Natara’s operations.

Acting as a technical authority, the role will help ensure the safe, efficient and
compliant performance of E&I systems while supporting projects, troubleshooting,
functional safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design and specification of E&I systems for new installations and plant
modifications.
• Complete technical reviews of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting support to maintenance and
operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including BS 7671,
ATEX, DSEAR and applicable IEC standards.
• Act as the technical authority for electrical and control systems.
• Maintain system integrity and identify opportunities for continuous
improvement.
• Manage E&I interfaces with contractors, vendors and engineering consultants.
• Support and lead HAZOP, LOPA and SIL verification studies.
• Develop maintenance strategies for E&I equipment.
• Support asset integrity, reliability and plant availability.
• Produce and review technical specifications, drawings and engineering reports.
• Contribute to capital projects from concept and design through to procurement,
installation and commissioning.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to technicians.
• Work closely with engineering, operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications and Experience
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a closely
related discipline.
• Experience in the design, operation and maintenance of E&I systems within a
process or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK electrical and instrumentation legislation, standards
and recognised best practice.
• Familiarity with functional-safety standards.
• Knowledge of the selection and design of hazardous-area equipment.
• CompEx certification or comparable hazardous-area competency.
• Experience within chemicals, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, utilities or
another relevant industrial sector.
• Experience of industrial control systems, automation and instrumentation
networks.
• Competence with relevant software such as AutoCAD, ETAP and PLC/DCS
platforms.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage contractors and work across different departments.
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards professional registration, would
be advantageous.
