Sustainability

We are on a mission to make the world taste and smell better, responsibly

As a newly independent company in the flavour
and fragrance industry, we take our duty of
responsibility seriously.

From our impact on the planet, to the health and safety of our people, from our role in the community, to the way we do business, we consider environmental, social and governance factors in everything we do.

Our ESG Roadmap

We are committed to being a leader in sustainability in the flavour and fragrance industry. Under new ownership, we are embarking on a long-term roadmap, setting ambitious environmental, social and governance targets.

Environment

Phase 1

As a new standalone business, we have established our baseline for energy and water usage, waste volumes, and Scope 1 & 2 Emissions. We have also re-accredited all four of our production sites to the SEDEX standard.

Phase 2

We have built a Materiality Matrix prioritising issues of greatest importance to Natara and our customers, including Scope 3 Emissions, Supply Chain Transparency, and Biodiversity.

Scope 3 Emissions

Our ambition is to achieve Net Zero status and we are in the process of setting science-based targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions in line with SBTi guidelines.

Supply Chain Transparency

We are committed to building a sustainable and ethical supply chain, providing a safe environment and equality for all workers, and a robust, traceable system for our customers. We are currently implementing a new code of conduct and audit process for all suppliers.

Biodiversity

Protecting biodiversity is a key part of our responsibility. We have put in place an on-going initiative to identify and manage risks to biodiversity, both within our supply chain and on, or adjacent to, Natara sites around the world.

Featured Sustainable Products

A selection of our sustainable Aroma Chemical products, all of which have a minimum of 50% renewability.

SOCIAL

The health and safety of its people is Natara’s No.1 priority.

We are pleased to report that in 2023 we had zero Lost Time Incidents, which is based on the OSHA definition and refers to the number of incidents on the job that led to an absence from the workplace for at least one day.
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Policy outlines our approach to promoting equality, preventing discrimination, and creating a diverse and inclusive culture.
We also take our role in the community seriously and support local initiatives, charities and sporting teams. For instance in the UK, this includes staff charity events such as the Macmillan Charity Bake-Off, and support for local charity golf and football. Natara also matches any funds raised independently by staff for charity.

GOVERNANCE

As part of Natara’s newly independent status, we are putting in place policies to ensure appropriate governance procedures including quarterly Board and Investor reviews of all ESG initiatives. Natara supports industry events such as WFFC, BSF and NAFFS.
