Salary: £35,000–£43,000 basic salary, plus shift allowance

The Role
The Shift Fitter will provide hands-on mechanical engineering support within Natara’s
Hartlepool engineering team.

The role will focus on fault diagnosis, routine servicing, repair, maintenance and testing
of complex plant, machinery and associated components. It may also involve the
installation of machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
• Assemble, position and install mechanical equipment and systems.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs.
• Test plant, machinery and associated components.
• Remove, replace and disassemble mechanical equipment safely.
• Respond to plant and equipment breakdowns.
• Work in accordance with all legislative, regulatory and site requirements.
• Follow established reporting procedures and safe systems of work.
• Prepare and reinstate work areas, materials and equipment correctly.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, equipment manuals,
work instructions and maintenance schedules.
• Select and use the correct tools and equipment.
• Identify defects and testing anomalies and determine the appropriate action.
• Communicate maintenance findings and technical information clearly.
• Use digital systems and equipment to support maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience
• An ECITB apprenticeship or another recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Alternatively, an HNC or HND supported by appropriate practical experience.
• Mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, food
or process environment.
• Awareness of CompEx working practices and hazardous-area operations.
• Experience of working within a formal Permit to Work system and Site Safety
Management System would be beneficial.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Willingness to work the required shift pattern.
• A working knowledge of food-industry practices would be advantageous.
